We have completed the set with the publication of the men’s and women’s pursuit rankings. That’s all there is for now, though in the coming weeks and months we’ll add age-group rankings, Scottish and Welsh rankings and of course World Rankings.
The pursuit rankings, in common with the other four ranking lists, are dominated by cyclists from the last few years. This is particularly noticeable among the women, where the race to break Romero’s British record is hotting up with three current riders within 2.5 seconds of the Olympic gold medal-winning ride.
The current batch of men don’t look like threatening the British record, however, with Chris Boardman’s superman-aided best continuing to look pretty untouchable. Barring a late-career charge from Sir Brad, it’s hard to see where a challenge might come from. Wiggins aside, and assuming Geraint Thomas will not be back on the track any time soon, the highest ranking rider who is currently active is Steve Burke, and his time dates back to 2008.
